ABOUT AFTON
Afton A. Adams became a Special Makeup Effects Artist after working on a film called Silent Scream; before that movie, she didn't even know that it was a career. The feature film had a very small budget and therefore had no pre-production time. All the effects (and there were a lot) were done on set, in a time crunch, right in front of Afton's eyes. It changed her life.
Immediately after the film wrapped Afton moved 200 miles away to apprentice under the SPMUFX department head from Silent Scream, Ken Hertlein, who had learned from the Godfather of special makeup effects, Dick Smith. She immersed herself into learning everything she could from her mentor and then went on to work all over the state for the next 4 years doing commercials, theater,and anything else she could. In 2007, she then made the inevitable pilgrimage to Los Angeles where she has worked in the magical world of effects ever since.Now that Afton has worked under award winning makeup and effects artists at the top of the business, she has her own studio in downtown LA to do her own shows and projects all while still assisting the best of the best whenever possible. She continues to work on everything from worthy passion projects, to multi-million dollar summer blockbusters, and everything in between and sees no end in sight.
